Our Teachers
Our teachers are one of the best assets at CCP. They are all moms of children with varying age ranges, and are very eager to listen and help, should a parent have a question. We are also lucky to have a past CCP mom now in the role as a teacher, allowing her to look at things from both perspectives. In addition, their wide variety of interests and hobbies, allow them to create a wonderfully diverse curriculum. Our children are very dear to our hearts, and it’s only right that we feel we have the very best teaching them.
Karen Walsh, Director
Mrs Walsh began as a teacher at CCP in 1997 and took over the Administrative/Director role in 2001. She came to the school with many years of preschool and day care experience throughout High School and College. After obtaining her BS in Early Childhood Development, she worked for the Lexington PS Special Education Department where she acquired skills and practical experience which has served her well throughout her teaching career.
Mrs Walsh brings enthusiasm, excitement, patience and a sense of calm to the classroom. She is a true believer in the benefits of a Cooperative setting, and enjoys the connections and relationships formed with children, parents and families alike.
Karen and her family are long time residents of Wilmington. Her four children all attended CCP between 2006-2011 and her husband has been a Social Studies teacher at Bedford High School for over 20 years. Mrs Walsh jokes that being at CCP is her ‘retreat’ from her busy every day.
Linda Swartz, Assistant Director and Enrollment
Miss Linda has been a teacher at Community Cooperative Preschool since 2009. She holds a BA degree in Economics and French from the University of Vermont. In addition, she earned her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass. Linda is certified as a Director and Lead Teacher. Previously, she taught second grade at a small private school in Boston and Pre-K at a preschool and day care center in Arlington. Linda and her family have been part of Community Cooperative Preschool for several years as her 3 children attended the school. While her children attended, she was a board member and she served on nominating and hiring committees for the school.
Lynda Belanger, Preschool Teacher
Lynda joined CCP in 2021. She has a BS degree in Accounting from Babson College and, after a career at The Hartford Insurance Company, obtained her Masters Degree in Education from American International College. She was an elementary school classroom teacher for 8 years in Andover and Lawrence’s public schools. She has three adult children who live nearby. She thoroughly enjoys supporting and contributing to the happy, creative, kind community at CCP.
Jennie Hogan, PreK Teacher
Miss Jennie has a BS degree in Early Education from Salem State College. After teaching PreK in Stoneham Public Schools for 2 years, she took some time off to be with her children, while also nannying. During this time off, she homeschooled her oldest son, where she discovered her love of science and the natural world. She returned to working in a classroom 3 years ago at Newbury Elementary working as both a Special Education Instructional Assistant and Summer Stem Teacher. In her free time she is an avid reader, and volunteers at the Giving Garden in North Andover. She also enjoys watching her younger son play soccer and her oldest son wrestle for his high school. She looks forward to bringing her love of the outdoors and nature to CCP.
